Si Ella ay isang batang babae na nakatira sa isang maliit na baryo sa Talavera. Isang gabi, habang naglalakad siya pauwi mula sa paaralan, napansin niya ang isang kakaibang liwanag sa madilim na daan. Nang lumapit siya, nakita niyang may mga alitaptap na kumikislap sa paligid ng isang puno.

“Wow! Ang ganda nila!” sabi ni Ella habang pinagmamasdan ang mga alitaptap na kumikislap ng iba't ibang kulay.

Bigla, may narinig siyang tinig mula sa likod ng puno.

“Kung gusto mong maging kasing liwanag namin, kailangan mong matutong magbigay liwanag sa iba,” wika ng isang alitaptap na lumipad palapit kay Ella.

Nagulat si Ella at tiningnan ang alitaptap. “Paano ko naman magagampanan iyon? Paano ako magiging liwanag sa ibang tao?”

“Ang liwanag namin ay hindi lang mula sa aming mga katawan. Ang tunay na liwanag ay galing sa kabutihang loob at pagtulong sa iba,” paliwanag ng alitaptap.

Isang araw, habang naglalakad si Ella sa kalsada, nakita niyang may batang lalaki na nahulog at nadapa. Mabilis siyang lumapit at tinulungan ang bata.

“Salamat, Ella!” sabi ng bata habang tumayo.

Habang naglalakad sila papunta sa kanilang mga bahay, napansin ni Ella na para bang may mga alitaptap na nagsimula ulit magliyab sa paligid nila, mas maliwanag kaysa dati.

“Napansin mo ba iyon? Parang may mga alitaptap na lumilipad sa paligid natin,” tanong ng batang lalaki.

Ngumiti si Ella at naalala ang sinabi ng alitaptap sa kanya. "Oo, siguro dahil naging mabuti tayo sa isa’t isa. Ang liwanag ng kabutihang ginawa natin ay parang liwanag ng mga alitaptap.”

Mula noon, natutunan ni Ella na hindi kailangang malaki ang tulong upang magbigay liwanag sa iba. Kahit sa maliliit na bagay—tulad ng pagtulong, pagpapatawad, at pagiging mabuti—ang mga simpleng ito ay nagsisilbing ilaw na nagpapaliwanag sa madilim na daan ng buhay.
