One night, as she gazed up, a tiny moonbeam danced through her window and whispered, 'Luna, do you want to see the moon's secrets?' Luna nodded eagerly. The moonbeam wrapped her in a silvery glow and lifted her high into the sky. When they landed on the moon, Luna found a magical world full of glowing flowers, giggling stars, and kind little moon creatures. Nibbles was my beautiful hamster, with soft, fluffy fur and big, curious eyes. I had gotten her as a present from my parents and she quickly became my beloved pet. Every day, I would spend hours playing with Nibbles in her brightly colored cage. She loved to run on her wheel and explore every nook and cranny of her home. There was always one treat in that Nibbles couldn’t resist, sunflower seeds. As soon as she saw me holding the bag of seeds, she would stand on her hind legs and squeak excitedly. One day, I decided to take Nibbles out of her cage and let her explore my room. As Nibbles grew older, she started to slow down and spend more time napping. Although she was just a hamster, she had brought so much joy and love into my life. My heart sank as I realized she had passed away in her sleep. I couldn’t stop the tears from falling as I said goodbye to my beautiful hamster.

Bella was 5 years old today! Not only was she excited that it was her birthday, she was looking forward to starting school soon. "Happy Birthday Bella Boo!" shouted mom. Here is a new pink unicorn backpack for you my special girl. Bella squealed with excitement as she hugged her mom. She loved her new backpack and couldn't wait to take it to school and show her friends. She was so excited about it that she ended up playing with it at home and pretended to go on adventures carrying her backpack with her trusty sidekick Bear. Bella and her mom visited a homeless shelter later that day as it was tradition every year on her birthday. Her dad loved helping people and volunteering at the shelter. After he passed away, they tried to honor his memory on all their birthdays by handing out duffel bags filled goodies. Bella saw a Young mom and daughter. The mom was very grateful for the duffel bag. Hazel, her young daughter, was very shy and hid behind her mom and held tightly to her coat. Her face looked sad. Bella,asked what can you do to make Hazel smile? That's when she remembered Hazel's old backpack. There were holes in the backpack. Could Bella give Hazel the pink unicorn backpack she got for her birthday? Bella can use last year's backpack. No need for a new one. It's not ripped, just a little old. Bella pitched her mom the idea. That's a great idea! Your dad would be so proud of you for helping her and giving her your new backpack. What else can we do? maybe fill it with fun things? Bella's mom suggested she fill the backpack with newer or lightly used items Hazel can use to learn, to make her happy when she is sad, to calm down when she is angry, to help her when she is scared. In order to deal with her many emotions, Hazel could use different types of things. Hazel can use the books and drawing toy Bella brought back from her room. Red panda she can hug at night when she's scared. Maracas she can play when she's happy or wants to sing and dance.

I am Luca. I am four years old, and I just started Kindy. It is exciting, but also a little bit scary. There are so many new things—new teachers, new friends, and a big new playground! Every morning, my grown-up walks me to the Kindy room. Some days, I feel happy. Other days, I feel nervous and want to stay longer. When I feel worried, my tummy feels funny, and I want to cry. Mrs. Kubicek showed me the Zones of Regulation chart. She told me feeling worried is the blue zone, and that it is okay. To feel better, I can take deep breaths, press my hug button, or give a big hug before saying, “See you later!” When I miss my family, I remember that they love me always, and I will see them again soon when I get home. This helps me feel safe. When I get to the Kindy room, I put my bag, crunch and sip, and water bottle in their places. This helps me get ready for the day. Before Kindy starts, I can play with the trucks and puzzles. Sometimes, I do this with Mum or Dad before they say goodbye. That helps me feel braver. Recess and Lunch At recess, all the children go outside to eat and play. I feel nervous and stay near the wall. Mrs. Kubicek notices and says, “Luca, would you like to sit with Milani and Bodhi?” I nod. Milani and Bodhi smile and say, “Come sit with us!” That makes me feel good inside. I move into the green zone—calm and happy! Sometimes, I want to stay with Mrs. Kubicek at recess and lunch. But when she leaves, I feel sad. She reminds me that it is important to play with my friends. I take a deep breath, press my hug button, and find Milani and Bodhi. Once I start playing, I feel much better! At the end of the day, I pack my bag and sit on the mat. When I see my grown-up waiting, I run to give them a big hug. “How was your day?” they ask.I smile and say, “I played with Milani and Bodhi.” Each day, I feel a little braver. If I feel nervous, I can take deep breaths, press my hug button, or ask for help. Kindy is full of adventures, and I am ready for them all!
