A boy born on 27th February, a Sunday in 1994. It was still winter. He brought the Spring back into his families lives early that year. He was first given a nickname, Chunky, by his aunt Chutki. His father named him Soham Krishna on the day of his Annaprashan. He quickly grew close, and quite protective, to his cousins, a trait he carries to this day. He was the beloved of his grandparents and loved spending time with them, especially his shondada. No sooner was he a Kindergartener, he was also learning to draw and swim. 8 years felt like a blink as his mother and I set him off on his learning journey. Always quick to make friends, he had met twin boys at The Frank Anthony Public School. Taking a liking to basketball and rugby, he featured regularly in school games. A tic is an uncontrolled sudden, repetitive movement or sound that can be hard to control. Tics involving involve movements are called motor tics. Tics involving sounds are called vocal tics. Tics can be either simple or complex. The type of tics a person has may change over time. How often tics happen also may change. Tics often come and go and can get worse when a person is stressed or anxious. It's perfectly normal to worry that a tic may never go away. Fortunately, that's not usually the case. Most tics are temporary. They tend to not last more than 3 months at a time. Many times, people with a tic can think that their tic is the worst one ever. Of course it isn't, but it's still a concern for many people with tics. And those worries can cause unnecessary feelings of embarrassment and actually make the tic worse. Nobody wants to make tics worse, but is there any way to make them better? While you can't cure tics, you can take some easy steps to lessen their impact: Don't focus on it. If you know you have a tic, forget about it. Concentrating on it just makes it worse. Try to avoid stress-filled situations as much as you can — stress only makes tics worse. Get enough sleep. Being tired can makes tics worse. So make sure to get a full night's rest! Let it out! Holding back a tic can just turn it into a ticking bomb, waiting to explode. Have you ever felt a cough coming on and tried to avoid it? Didn't work out so well, did it? Chances are it was much worse. Tics are very similar. A tic? What tic? If a friend of yours has a tic, don't call attention to it. Chances are your friend knows the tic is there. Pointing it out only makes the person think about it more.

Nylon is having issues embracing his natural curly locks. Nylon has tried everything to cover his natural curly hair from wearing baseball caps, pulling hoodies over his head with the drawstring tightly. Nylon thought to himself one night maybe if I spray my head with water and hold my hands on top of my head for 10 minutes my hair would flatten, while this did make Nylon's hair less poofy, by the time morning arrived Nylon hair was curlier and puffer than ever. Nylon figured the only other option he had was to ask his father if he could get his haircut. So, one Saturday morning Nylon's father took him to the local barbershop to get a haircut. Although this is what Nylon thought was going to be life changing, he still didn't feel any different, eventhough his hair was now gone. When Nylon returned to school on Monday all the kids were looking and pointing not quite the response Nylon was looking for, one of his classmates Syer asked him "Heyyyy, why did you cut your hair? "I thought your hair was really cool looking, I wish my hair would curl like that." Nylon gave a slight smile but on the inside he felt confused, but realized that none ever told him that they did not like his locks, no one ever made fun of him that he had extra curly hair, but instead it was his insecurities about his locks that made him feel that everyone else felt the exact same way that he did. From that day on Nylon realized sometimes being different is what makes us all be unique. Nylon went back home and told his dad that he thinks he will let his hair grow back.
