It was a cold winter's night in February. Stella had snuck out of her home and got lost. Along came a couple that piqued her interest. She overheard them say they were not ever going to have another pet. They went inside, but the woman kept looking out the window at Stella. Stella looked up at her through the window with sad little eyes. She shivered in the cold. The woman brought her inside, but the man did not want to keep her. Stella won him over, and she was in her forever home. One night, she saw a pink, lanky figure in the distance. As she moved closer, she locked eyes with the skinny little pig. She had yet to realize it, but Stella and Wilbur would go on many adventures together. This was the beginning of a friendship for life!

I’ve never had friends like you either. We can learn from each other.” There was a pause, then Tristan passed him the ball. “Sure! Let’s play!” As they played, Mello felt his nervousness fade. He dribbled, passed, and even scored! The kids were laughing and playing together, and Mello realized it didn’t matter that he looked different—what mattered was that they were having fun. After the game, Skylar told Mello, “You’re really good! I’m glad you played with us.” Later, back in class, the teacher noticed Mello looking unsure. She walked over and said, “If you ever need help or want to talk, I’m here for you.” Mello smiled, feeling grateful to have a trusted adult in the classroom. The next day, the teacher led a discussion about kindness and making everyone feel welcome. Tristan suggested, “We could ask more questions to get to know new students.” Skylar added, “We can learn from each other’s differences.” Mello realized that being different wasn’t something to hide—it made him special. His new friends saw that their differences made them stronger together. In the end, Mello knew that being unique wasn’t just okay—it was beautiful.

The beetle cried out “You will never win this race at that slow, slow pace.” Out of breath from running, the beetle eventually reached a small pond of water. He thought, “I have plenty of time. I just will go around the pond.” The beetle sped off on his way. Inch by inch the snail crawled along the path. As she reached the pond, she thought, “It would be much shorter if I could somehow float across the water.” Perhaps I could build a boat. The snail gathered up some leaves, twigs and vine. She fashioned a small boat that helped her glide smoothly across the water of the pond. When she got to the other side, she hopped off the boat and could see all of her friends waiting for her at the finish line. Little by little the snail crept along the path until she crossed the finish line at long last. All of her friends cheered. “Hooray for snail!” they cried. A moment later the beetle came running across the finish line. “I can’t believe you beat me!” he said. “You know,” the snail replied with a smile, “being the fastest isn’t always everything”. “Sometimes if you just slow down for a moment and think about your challenge, you can come up with great solutions.”

Hunter and his daddy learn that all the bird really needs is food, water, shelter, and love. Eventually, the bird is healed and they release him. While they are tending to the bird, Hunter and his daddy share thoughts about the importance of kindness and empathy. (Hunter names the bird "Mickey" in honor of his grandpa's favorite baseball player - Mickey Mantle. They found the bird in centerfield and Mickey Mantle played centerfield)
