Page 3 Xiao Shui pointed at the Song Ling Tang and said, “This is where the Tang family honors their ancestors!” Page 4 Xiao Huo asked, “Why honor ancestors?” Xiao Shui replied, “To thank them for their protection and guidance.” Page 5 Next, they visited the Tin Hau Temple and saw villagers ringing bells to pray for blessings. Page 6 Xiao Shui said, “Tin Hau protects the villagers and keeps everyone safe.” Xiao Huo nodded, wishing for blessings too. Page 7 They found an ancient well. Xiao Shui said, “This well was built to protect against enemies. The villagers are smart!” Page 8 Xiao Huo smiled and said, “Lung Yuet Tau is mysterious and beautiful. We must come back to explore again!”

While he was rolling along the road, he came across a hare, a wolf, and a bear. Everyone threatened to eat him, but he was cunning and sang “I left my grandfather, I left my grandmother, and it’s not cunning to leave you.” Three times he successfully rolled away from a potential enemy, but then he met a fox - she outsmarted him and still ate him.

My own life

A 6 year old dark skinned black boy with a curly afro named Dukey goes on a journey to Nigeria accompanied by his parents. During his visit, Dukey fully embraces Nigerian customs and traditions. He savors the flavors of tasty jollof rice, sways to the captivating rhythms of indigenous music, and picks up words in Yoruba and Igbo from hospitable natives. He marvels at the colorful agbada clothing adorning the locals and attempts drumming, feeling the pulsating beat resonate within him.

Elif Sare arrives at a mill surrounded by birds, where she meets a tiny sparrow. The sparrow explains how wheat is ground into soft flour by the millstones. The sparrow shows Elif Sare the process, describing how the flour is used to make bread and cakes. Leaving the mill, Elif Sare finds a farm where cows graze and chickens roam. The butterfly promises Elif Sare more surprises await. Elif Sare meets a friendly cow that explains how milk is collected and used to make yogurt, cheese, and butter. Elif Sare then meets the chickens and helps gather eggs while learning how they are essential for growing strong and healthy. With flour, milk, eggs, and walnuts in her basket, Elif Sare thanks the butterfly, who reminds her to always cherish and protect nature’s gifts. Returning home, Elif Sare uses her collected ingredients to bake a delicious cake with her mother.
