Our Kindergarten class is learning how to deal with big emotions. When they are feeling overwhelmed by big emotions they should tell an adult they need a break, how we can help them or what is making them feel that way. We want to help them understand their feeling so that they will be able to learn to self-regulate. We encourage deep breathing, breaks, walks, alone time and telling adults how they feel.

Tosia and her friends started a collection for shelter dogs at school, at first the collection did not bring as much results as she would have liked, but she did not give up hope. From time to time she also visited shelters and helped them. Page 4: Lizzy is a clever lizard ( she loves to imagine about the stars in the sky so much that she sometimes forgets to listen in class ) whose mind never stopped racing. Page 5: Miko and Lizzy are different from their friends because they both have ADHD! Page 6: Miko struggled to stay still in class. He was always digging burrows and often got distracted during his How to Spot a Predator class. Page 7: Lizzy also struggled in class, she couldn’t focus on her sun safety class (she was easily distracted by the clouds in the sky and often forgot to take down her homework ) because of how fast her thoughts were moving. Page 8: (Miko and Lizzy struggled in class but their ADHD was an advantage!) After visiting Dr Wild, the Wildebeest, Miko and Lizzy learnt to do things that would help them to manage their ADHD. Page 9: Miko became the captain of the sand surfing team and had the fastest record in the desert! Miko was also top of his insect tracking class and created the first ever pair of insect spy goggles that could see different insect tracks and tells you what type of insect you are looking at! Page 10: Lizzy enjoyed stargazing so much that she was top of the class for astronomy and could name every constellation. Page 11: Even though Miko and Lizzy had some tough times with their ADHD, they both learnt cool tricks to help them feel better and do their best.
