According to the Quranic narrative, Habil and Qabil were the sons of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife Hawwa (Eve). They were the first human family on Earth. Both brothers were given offerings to present to Allah, and it was ordained that Allah would accept the offering of the one who was righteous. Allah accepted Habil's offering but rejected Qabil's. This made Qabil jealous and angry. In his jealousy, Qabil was consumed by the desire to harm his brother.
